    Model 232HESP is a three-stage surge protector that protects against lightning strikes and other types of voltage disturbances with three stages of protection for each line: a gas discharge tube followed by a series resistor and finally a Transient Voltage Suppresser (TVS). The surge protector is housed in a tough metal, panel mount case with a protected signal ground connection and dedicated chassis ground lug.In order to work properly, it is important to have a good connection between the #10 screws and a solid earth ground. Two terminal posts and two metal mounting brackets provide a good ground connection.

  • BB-485FPP


    Single stage surge protectors offer a high degree of protection with Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS) for each protected line. Model 485FPP has 600W Transient Voltage Suppressors to clamp voltages without adversely affecting normal RS-422/485 data. Fast-acting 125 mA PCB fuses to protect RS-422 and RS-485 circuits against transient voltages that are too long or too large for normal suppression. The 485FPP has 4 wires and terminal blocks for easy installation inline between the data cables – as close as possible to the serial port. Once a fuse is blown, the unit should be disposed and replaced.

  • BB-CANOP


    Model BB-CANOP increases the node capacity of CAN (Control Area Network) systems while protecting CAN networks from component destroying surges and transients. The BB-CANOP provides 2,000 VDC of optical isolation to separate and protect critical segments of the system from the rest of the CAN Network. It is protocol independent, allowing it to work with different CAN protocols and frame lengths. According to the CAN specification, the CAN network must be terminated at both ends. Networks that are not properly terminated may experience data errors or miss data completely. The BB-CANOP creates two new ends to the CAN network. Space is provided on the board for a termination resistor on each side, R6 and R8 (120 Ohm resistor recommended). If the BB-CANOP is not at the end of the network, it should not be terminated.     BB-HESP4DR protects from lightning, surges, voltage disturbances with 3 stages on each line: gas discharge tube, series resistor and transient voltage suppresser. Five RS422/485 signals on TBs with 6.8V clamping voltage. Must have good connection between #10 grounding screw and solid earth ground.

These lightning arrestors suppress surges to less than 45 Volts in ~100 ns. They are designed with a rugged housing, high quality plated brass "N" connectors and allow bulkhead mounting and connector pass-through. In the presence of energy and voltage surges, a gas discharge tube changes from an open-circuit to a short-circuit, providing surges with a direct path to Ground.
